The talk gives an overview of an ongoing shared task conducted within the area of narratology. While shared tasks within NLP focus solely on the automatic detection of textual phenomena, this shared task runs in two phases (development of annotation guidelines and automatic detection methods). The shared task focuses on the narrative phenomenon of narrative level (embedded narrative), which is a) very common and b) a useful level of preprocessing for subsequent text analysis step (manual or automatic). The talk will discuss the shared task setting, including the evaluation criteria and give insights into first results.
