Developing NLP applications in industry

Abstract

Developing NLP applications in industry differs from the situation in academic research. In this talk, I will highlight some common challenges when building NLP for industry applications and show that even well understood NLP problems, like text classification and sequence labeling, pose challenges in real-world settings. I will explain our approach to NLP and machine learning and how we overcome some of these challenges at SAP.

Bio

Daniel Dahlmeier is a development manager in the SAP Leonardo machine learning team. Before joining SAP, he completed his Ph.D. in computer science and NLP at the National University of Singapore and his Diploma in computer science at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology.
