Participants
All advanced Bachelor students and all Master students. Students from MSc Data and Computer Science or MSc Scientific computing with Anwendungsgebiet Computational Linguistics are welcome after getting permission from the lecturer.
Prerequisite for Participation
- Completion of Programming I and Introduction to Computational Linguistics or similar introductory courses
- Introduction to Neural Networks

- Paper presentation
- Implementation project
- Prepare questions for each session's paper
Content
Character-level language models allow to process text without relying on predefined vocabularies, making them more adaptable to diverse languages and domains. Participants will learn about the motivation, history and state-of-the-art methods to process character/byte-level text inputs.
